we are goats & monkeys.
We are a Milwaukee-based collective of artists dedicated to engaging our community in the exploration of great plays. By breaking down traditional theatrical expectations, we create a unique event: a new dialogue between artist, audience, and text.
goats & monkeys events typically take place in unconventional spaces, using no more than the actors and the text. Intimate environments, refreshments, and great conversation with our audiences punctuate our performances.
By removing the traditional theatrical barriers of set and costume, we expose the actor and the text. By removing the traditional construct of a theater, we expose the communal nature of the event. By reflecting them through the mirror of the text, and engaging them in conversation throughout the evening, we expose the audience.
